The Management Centre has been appointed by the Management Services Division of the IIUM to conduct a course curriculum for competency level assessment 4 for grade 48 officers. The purpose of the course is to assess the competency of the officers to fulfill one of the requirements for salary shift on the CLA4, and to provide exposure to the officers on the knowledge, generic and functional competencies as well as personal attributes so as to enable them to make analysis and lead officers under their span of control.

Among the officers involved in the curriculum are:

  • Accountant/Finance Officer (W48)
  • Librarian (S48)
  • System Analyst (F48)
  • Counselor (S48)
  • Security Officer (KP48)
  • Administrative Officer (N48)

The courses will provide the participants with the following competencies:

  • Ability to manage resources
  • Ability to lead teams
  • Source of reference within his/her duties
  • Possess interpersonal communication skills
  • Conflict management/problem solving ability
  • Ability to negotiate at the department level
  • Ability to make presentation to an individual or groups
  • Ability to plan and implement strategies/programs/activities
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Integrity as well as stability of values and ethics
  • Ability for self management

The course modules will cover the following:

  • Knowledge on policies (IIUM philosophy, mission, vision; strategic planning, national development policy, national education policy)
  • Organizational Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Financial Management
  • Change Management
  • Communication Skills
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Conflict Management
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Decision Making
  • Integrity Management
  • Functional competencies (academic affairs, student affairs, library administration, counseling, security management, information management)

The course will be based on these methodologies:

  • Observation/Evaluation

Finally, the course evaluation will be based on the following:
