Graduation
Requirement
To be eligible for graduation, a student must have completed all requirements for the Master of Business Administration Degree and have achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00 or better. The CGPA is computed by dividing the total grade points earned by the number credit hours attempted. The grade obtained for each course is based on the overall performance in the course work including assignments, tests and end-of-semester examination.
Programme
Committee and Project Paper Committee
The Programme Committee is the authority that
decides on all academic matters for students of
the Management Centre.
The Project Paper Committee is the authority
that evaluates project papers, and formally appoints
the supervisor and examiner to all Management
Centre students conducting research.
Core,
Specialization and Elective Courses
A “Core” subject is defined as any
subject which is common to all students in a Programme,
and must be taken in order to complete the degree
requirements. Core subjects are set by the Centre
and must be taken by the student.
An “Elective” subject is a subject
taken by the student in lieu of the Project Paper
to meet graduation requirements. Elective subjects
are chosen by the student from a list provided
by the Centre.
(MBA ONLY) A “Specialization” subject
is a subject which satisfies the requirements
of the student’s area of specialization.
Specialization subjects are set by the Centre
and must be taken by the student in order to complete
the graduation requirements.

requirements, and must be repeated.
Appeal Against Grade
When a student considers a course grade to have been unfairly assigned, the student should first confer with the course instructor to review his/her examination papers and/or coursework. If the matter remains unresolved, the student may institute a formal appeal against the grade by writing an appeal to the Director of the Management Centre. As per University a requirement, a non-refundable fee RM100.00 is payable at the time the student initiates a formal appeal.
Failure in a Course
A student who fails a course will have to repeat
the course (maximum of two repeats is allowed)
in order to graduate. Re-registration and payment
of course fee is required. The grade for the repeated
subject will automatically replace the former
grade. However, the old grade will remain on all
official transcripts issued by the University
for the purpose of record.
Provisional Passes and Dismissal
A student whose CGPA is below 3.0 will be placed
in provisional pass status (PV). A student who
fails to achieve CGPA of at least 3.0 for three
consecutive semesters will be dismissed from the
Programme.
Incomplete Grade
A temporary grade of incomplete, or 'I', may
be given in instances of incomplete projects and
term papers where strong justification is provided
by the instructor and approved by the Centre.
Under no circumstances may the grade of 'I' be
given for the following situations:
a) Absent from an end-of-semester examination
without prior approval from the Programme Head
of the Centre
b) A student who wishes to do additional post-semester
work in order to improve a grade; or
c) A student who wishes to repeat the course as
auditor, retaking examination, etc., in order
to improve a grade.
Where an 'I' grade is given, the student must
submit completed assignments within the first
four (4) weeks of the following semester. It is
the responsibility of the student to submit his
assignments on time and no reminders will be issued
by the Centre to the student. If the student fails
to submit the assignment within the stipulated
time, the grade of 'I' will be converted to an
'F'.
Class Attendance Policy
All students are expected to attend all classes,
presentations, lab sessions, etc. which are officially
part of the course which is taught. University
regulations allow for students who fail to attend
at least 80% of lectures to be barred from the
final exam.
Continuous Enrollment
Students are expected to be continuously enrolled
and actively engaged in fulfilling the requirements
of the Programme until such time that the degree
is conferred. Should a student discontinue enrollment
for one or more semesters without formal leave
of absence, the Programme Committee has the right
to dismiss the student from the Programme.
It is the student’s individual responsibility
to ensure that he is enrolled in class for each
semester that he is studying in the Programme.
Study Duration
The maximum duration that a part time student
may stay in the Programme is five (5) years. A
part time student must enroll in a minimum of
one (1) course per semester.
The maximum duration that a full time student
may stay in the Programme is three (3) years.
A full time student must enroll in a minimum of
three (3) courses per semester.
Upon lapsing of the maximum duration, the student
will be automatically dismissed from the Programme
Student Barred from Examination
A student may be barred from taking the examination if he/she (1) fails to officially register for the course, or (2) has committed a breach of University regulations, or (3) fail to settle the study fees. Students who are barred from the end-of-semester examination will be automatically given a grade of 'F'.
Absence from End of Semester Examination
Absence from an end-of-semester examination will
not be allowed except for an illness or emergency
on the day of the examination. Proof of such an
emergency must be supported by official documentation
and to be submitted to the Management Centre within
seven (7) days after the date of the final exam.
Should the absence be related to work requirements,
prior approval must be obtained from the Programme
Head. A student who is absent from such examinations
without valid reasons or without the University’s
authorization will be graded based on the coursework/carry
marks of the course. There will be no make-up
or special exams in the case of absences in the
final examination.
Should the student be given permission to be
absent from the final exam, a grade of AP (Absent
with Permission) will be given. This grade does
not affect the student’s CGPA. However,
the student is obligated to attend the final exam
for the subject when it is next offered. The onus
is on the student to find out when the course
is next offered.
Failure to attend a replacement exam will result
in the grades for that subject to be based on
the carrying marks of the course.
Study Leave
A student who needs to take study for a semester
must apply in writing to the Head of the Programme.
Reasons for the needed deferral must be clearly
stated. The Programme Committee of the Management
Centre will decide on such requests on a case-by-case
basis. Study leave is not automatically given
and can only be granted maximum two (2) times
during the entire period of study. Students granted
study leave must pay a deferral fee of RM200.00
per semester. This fee is non-refundable and will
not be applicable to subsequent semester fee.
Dissertation
Dissertation is optional requirement
for graduation and must be completed on completion
of course work. The absolute deadline for submission
of the GPP is 6 months from the date of the last
final exam or earlier date decided upon by the
Programme Committee. Please note that no extension
beyond 6 months period will be given for whatever
reason. Failure to submit the GPP would mean that
you would not qualify for graduation for the MBA
programme. Students are strongly urged to plan
their work schedule for the graduation project
paper in the last 2 semesters.
Payment of Fees
The registration fee is to be paid as stipulated
in the offer letter to the students. The semester
course fee is to be paid within the first four
(4) weeks of each semester. A penalty of RM100.00
on late payment will be imposed if payment is
received after the fourth week. If payment is
received after the sixth week, the penalty is
RM200.00. A student who fails to settle his fees
will be barred from attending the final exam,
and his results for all subjects in that semester
will be changed to ‘Y’ which is equivalent
to a grade of ‘F’. In addition, the
student will not be allowed to register in the
next semester, and the examination results will
not be released until all fees have been paid.
The Centre reserves the right not to release
the exam results of any sponsored student whose
sponsor fails to make payment of the fees in a
reasonable time.
Change of Status, Specialization
and Programme
(ALL STUDENTS): Should a student wish to change
his status from full time to part time, or vice
versa, he/she is required to submit a change of
status form to the Management Centre. The Programme
Committee will decide on the application on an
individual basis.
A student is not allowed to change his/her programme
from Master of Management to Master of Business
Administration or vice-versa without permission
from the Programme Committee.

are required to submit a change of specialization
form to the Management Centre, and clearly state

The Programme Committee will decide on the application
on an individual basis.
