The programme now has four areas of specialization: i. General Management
ii. Strategic Management
iii. Finance
iv. Islamic Banking and Finance

Ten of the fourteen courses are common to all areas of specialization. Each area of specialization has four specialization courses relevant to the respective subject area.
The dissertation will be in the area of specialization of the student, and will be supervised by a member of the teaching faculty. Candidates will be expected to submit a short written proposal of their intended research topic towards the end of the third semester (i.e. upon completion of their respective four specialized courses). The final project paper will be due for submission at the end of the final semester or a subsequent date as determined by the Project Paper Committee.

The total duration of study is 15 months or 4 semesters. Each semester has a duration of 12 weeks. There will be three such semesters within an academic year. Courses will generally be conducted on weekday evenings ( 6.30 p.m. – 10.00 p.m. ) with each course having a 3 ½ hour lecture per week. Examinations will be conducted at the end of each semester and will be followed by an inter-semester break.
Students are expected to take 4 courses per semester in the first 3 semesters. In the final semester, students are required to take 2 core courses and either complete a dissertation related to their area of specialization (6 credit hours) or to take 2 elective courses in lieu of the dissertation.
