1) How many intakes are there per year?
The part-time programme has two intakes, in
March and July of each year. The full-time programme
also has two intakes per year; in July and November.
The typical size of each intake is 40 students.
2) What is the program duration?
i. Part-time programme - 2 years 6 months (8 semesters). Total of 14 subjects - 2 subjects / semester (if student opts for 2 extra courses).
ii. Full-time programme - 1 year 6 months (5 semesters) 4 subjects / semester. Total 16 subjects (if students opts for 2 extra courses)
Total number of subjects = 16 (48 credit hours. The dissertation carries 6 credit hours) If the student opts for a dissertation, it must be submitted to the Management Centre at most 6 months after final 7th semester. Full-time students may begin with the dissertation early in the 3rd/4th semester while for the part-time students in the 5th/6th semester.
3) What is the class schedule?
Classes for for the full-time programme are on weekdays
(Monday - Friday) after working hours ( 6.30 p.m. - 10.00 p.m. ).
Classes for part-time programme are on weekends:
Saturday ( 3.00 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. )
Sunday ( 9.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. )
4) How are students assessed in each course?
Assessment is usually based on a combination
of coursework and final examination.The weightage
for coursework (i.e. assignments, presentation,
et cetera) and examination vary from course to
course but is approximately 60% coursework and
40% final examination.
5) How much is the programme fee?
For detailed information, please refer to the
'MBA Programme Fees'. Fees do not include course
materials, textbooks, accommodation, etc. Students
who would like to stay on campus are required
to apply for housing through the Management Centre.
However, the Centre cannot guarantee the availability
of the room as the approval of the on-campus accommodation
is made by the University Housing Authority.
6) What are the entry qualifications?
A good Bachelor's degree in any discipline or
an equivalent qualification - Equivalent qualifications
could be; Professional certificate (ACCA, ICSA)
Advanced diploma as recognized by Malaysian Government.
In the case of professional qualification, certification
that it is equivalent to a bachelor's degree is
needed.
Working experience - At least 2 years at supervisory position/level.
TOEFL/IELTS score for foreign applicants
7) Is financial aid available?
The Management Centre offers the Rector's Fellowship
to qualified students. For further information,
please refer to the 'Scholarship'
page. Malaysian students are encouraged to apply
loan from PTPTN, EON Finance, MARA, etc.
8) Is the programme open to non-Muslims
& international candidates?
Yes, it is open to non-Muslims and international candidates. However, international candidates must enroll as full-time students. They must have valid visas and show proof that they can pay the fees and complete their studies as scheduled.
9) Can I defer/postpone my study once I
have enrolled in the program?
Yes. Students are allowed to defer for a maximum of two semesters. Deferral however is not automatic. One is expected to have a strong case for requesting a deferral.
10) What is the difference between the MBA
and the MMgt programs?
The MBA is tailored specifically for those who work or plan to work in a business environment, e.g. finance exec., managers, senior exec., CEOs, etc. In contrast, the MMgt is specifically targeted to those who may be new to management or wish to embark upon a career in management. The MMgt is open to applicants with various educational backgrounds and experiences. Thus, MMgt students include government officers, businessmen, company executives, teachers, and also fresh graduates.
11) When is the deadline to submit the application
form?
For Malaysian applicants, application forms
must be submitted approximately one (1) month
before the Programme commences.
For international applicants, application forms
must be submitted approximately three (3) months
before the Programme commences.
Application deadlines are regularly announced
on the Centre's webpage (check the MBA / MMgt
Admission menu).
12) How do I make a payment?
A registration fee of RM3540 (for local students) should be paid one week before the registration day. For international student, the registration fee of RM5400 should be paid before the stipulated date as stated in the offer letter. Failure to pay the registration fee before the stipulated date means the student is automatically withdrawn from the program.
Method 1: Lump sum payment of RM18,500 (PT/FT Local) or RM25,000 (FT International student).
Method 2: Semester payment.
*Part-Time (Local student): 2 years 6 months study plan. RM2,130 X 7 semesters and RM2,180 on final semester (if the student opts for 2 additional courses).
*Full-Time (Local student): 1 year, 6 months study plan. RM4260 X 4 semesters and RM2130 on final semester (if the student opts for 2 additional courses).
*Full-Time (International student): 1 year, 6 months study plan. RM5600 X 4 semesters and RM2800 on final semester (if the student opts for 2 additional courses).
